Yesterday an interest rate cut by the FED. The FED also stops reducing the balance. This should have been good news for the gold price. However, the FED indicated that the interest rate cut is probably an one-off. The dollar rose and that is also not good for the gold price. I expect the Fed to lower interest rates more often this year. That is good for the somewhat longer term. The dollar is more important in the short term. In recent weeks, the US government has been talking about lowering the dollar. The US government has those resources. Last week it was decided not to do that for the time being. Now that the FED decision is over and the dollar on FED statements continues to rise, the need to do something about that high dollar will increase. The FED and the ECB are not going to raise interest rates. That is good for the gold price. Due to the rapidly rising US government debt, the dollar will fall. The high dollar is the biggest problem for the gold price in the short term. Many central banks have been buying gold since 2018 on a large scale. The chance that they will stimulate more is great. More stimulation and therefore higher inflation is good for the gold price. The dollar is still high and that is not good for the gold price.
